North Polk Community High School
North Polk Community High School is made up of four communities, Alleman, Elkhart, Polk City, and Sheldahl.
Central Elementary, Middle School, and High School are located in Alleman, serving preschool-5th, 6th-8th, and 9th-12th. West Elementary and Big Creek Elementary are located in Polk City serving grades preschool-2nd grade and 3rd-5th.

St. Mary & Holy Cross Parish
Our two Catholic Churches are located in Northern Polk County. St. Mary Church is located in the town of Elkhart, Iowa, and Holy Cross Church is located East of Elkhart near Farrar, Iowa. Our membership consists of a diverse group drawing from many communities in the area – Alleman, Altoona, Ames, Ankeny, Baxter, Bondurant, Cambridge, Colfax, Collins, Des Moines, Elkhart, Huxley, Maxwell, Mingo, Mitchellville, Nevada, Polk City, Prairie City, Sheldahl, and Slater.

“A family church, a Charismatic teaching center, Reaching out to the world” was the mission statement created by the founders of the Faith Christian Fellowship organization and continues to shape the emphasis of the organization and the FCF churches.
